Greetings! It's been quite a week and I'm feeling a bit underwhelmed by my own efforts recently. My blog post this week is anything but stellar and I find my current state of uncertainty unnerving. The assignment was to share my Digital Storytelling Project Plan. And that, my friends, is what is at the root of my uncertainty. Prior to class Monday evening I thought I had my story all figured out. It's a topic I feel pretty passionate about so I thought I could see my story from beginning to end very clearly. Now, not so much. I'm counting on you, dear classmates, to help me decide how to tell my story. Here's the link (below) to my project plan. And thanks in advance for helping me tell this story.
Respectfully,
Pam

Pam,
ReplyDeleteYou have a great idea of what you want to do, but for the scope of the assignment I think you have bitten off quite a bit.
I have looked at 6 of our peer's plans so far and the scope of your is by far the most encompassing. I'd get some input from Dr. Shannon, but I'd expect that trying to cut down on the scope of your project may be the way to go.
Just my 2 cents,
Kevin Wiley
I made a copy of your project plan and made several suggestions that I hope is helpful, based on what we put on our rubric. I think you have a better grasp on this story than you thought! I will email you the file.
ReplyDeleteHi Pam,
ReplyDeleteI am with you on feeling underwhelmed by things. I have been in such a blah mood lately and just feeling that I need a break. Hopefully Thanksgiving break will help us with some of it. I love your story. I am very worried with how many teachers are leaving the profession to only be replaced by emergency certified teachers. In my opinion I think you may want to pick a number to interview so you don't get overwhelmed with all of the interviews if you were to get 20 volunteers plus your colleagues. Maybe just interview 5 colleagues and take 5 volunteers? I only say that because I know for myself combing through all that video would overwhelm me. For your resolution I love the idea of having the people you interview give their insight on how to fix the teacher burnout. This could be a great way to get the conversation started with administration on how they can help. I can't wait to see how your story develops!
Wonderful work!

Hello,
ReplyDeleteYou have a big project for yourself. I'm wondering if you can share the importance or necessity of the volunteer interviews and feedback? Perhaps it is best to focus solely on the teachers for the class project and add the volunteers at a later date? Also, I'm not sure you need a binary opposite at this time. I know you stated that you're still researching in this area. Again, I'm wondering is this needed in the DST since you will be presenting it to the school administrators? May the presentation could be reminiscent of the NPR story from our list in week 2, I'll have to go look up the link. The story about the students who leave their neighborhood to attend 'better quality' schools. This was a tough story to tell, yet, the approach was very personal to me. Just thoughts. Thanks for sharing. Dannette
